Ooltewah, TN – School Board Member Gary Kuehn, incumbent for District 9 School Board, announced the official launch to his campaign for re-election in the May 2026 Republican Primary. Since being elected in 2022, Gary Kuehn has served District 9 with unwavering dedication, experience, and results.

Kuehn, a retired administrator in the Hamilton County School System, brings a lifelong connection to District 9 schools. Before retiring, Kuehn served as an assistant principal and instructional leader at Central High School, and Principal of Hunter Middle School, and Harrison Bay Vocational School, and the Hamilton County Adult High School. This on campus leadership has led to a deep and practical understanding of the district’s needs, families, and teachers.

“District 9 families know how important the upcoming election is. We need continued Republican leadership, experience, and steady focus in our schools,” stated Gary Kuehn. “I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished since 2022 – and I’m ready to keep building on that momentum.”

School Board Member Kuehn has maintained a productive working relationship with former school board member and current County Commissioner, Steve Highlander, reinforcing a collaborative approach that has led to meaningful improvements for students and educators.

While serving as a member of the Hamilton County School Board, Kuehn brought the Aviation Academy to the Harrison Bay Future Ready Center, worked to modernize sports in Hamilton County by supporting turf fields and updated lighting. Voted to reduce benchmark testing supporting teachers and students, and led the charge to have Central High School painted both inside and out for the first time in nearly three decades.

The May 2026 Republican Primary will offer voters a clear choice: preservation of conservative experienced leadership in District 9 – continued through the re-election of Gary Kuehn.
